Bayern Munich have nothing to play for but pride, UEFA coefficient points and a tidy million euros in prize money as they host CSKA Moscow in their final Champions League group game.
The Bavarians have already easily sealed top spot in the so-called "Group of Death," including a stunning 7-1 thumping of Roma in their own backyard. Despite an impressive performance with just 10 men for over 70 minutes last time out in Manchester, Bayern were undone by a Sergio Aguero hat-trick as ultimately the more-motivated team with everything on the line prevailed.
With Bayern getting into the festive spirit at the weekend with a rip-roaring Christmas party, Roma and Manchester City will both definitely be hoping that the Bavarians won't be handing out any early gifts to the Russian side.
Second place is still very much up for grabs in the group; the visitors would qualify with a win -- if the Italian side fails to overcome the English champions.
The Reds are aiming to make it five wins out of six to match last year's group stage efforts, while the Russian side have lost all three previous clashes against Bayern, in line with a woeful record on German soil, where CSKA have never won or drawn in three attempts.
CSKA will perhaps take some consolation from the current arctic weather in Munich with temperatures expected to be around the freezing mark at kickoff.
But whether Moscow possesses any real quality (or a Sergio Aguero-type) to hurt Bayern is very doubtful. Therefore, Pep Guardiola may choose to give his second-string and recovered injury casualties a run out.
