Having never won a league title in his career, Robin van Persie found himself in an exciting position in the summer of 2012. He knew he was leaving Arsenal, and he knew that the following season he would win the league.
With offers from Manchester United and Manchester City on the table, two clubs that had been separated by goal difference in the previous season, the Dutchman could make an educated guess that his goals would propel either side to securing the league title in his first season.
After deciding to listen to the little boy inside him, who was apparently screaming for United, Van Persie had a choice of shirt numbers to pick from. He claimed he went for 20 as he had joined the club to win their record-making 20th league title.
